“ The parking is slime, but we'll worth the drive. As soon as you get inside there is nothing but good vibes and friendly atmosphere. The owner is so welcoming that I felt like family right away. I suggest dine in to enjoy the good music and wonderful guests. We ordered the gumbo, snapper, and crab rice. All of the dishes very good. ”

“ We found this restaurant on Yelp with it being close to where we were staying. Unbelievable restaurant. Small and fairly discreet, but the owner, Ed, was over the top on service. His menu featured crab, shrimp, and catfish. The dishes were top of the line for what I would consider a "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant. I highly recommend the seafood pasta dish and their cheeseburger. But I want to rave on the hospitality. Definite must go!!! ”

“ WOW, what a meal. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly with a smile. We ordered the shrimp and grits, side of corn, potato and sausage with a Mexican coke. The presentation of the shrimp and grits was beautiful. Shrimp seasoned and cooked perfectly. The grits had amazing, deep flavor and plenty to go around. The potato was cooked so it was easy to cut, but not mushy...just right. It came with a flavorful sauce. The sausage had a rich, smokey flavor. A meal that we ended up splitting and it was plenty. The service was very good as they checked in on us several times. Just great people. I will say, this was a little hard to find due to a lack of signs outside. The inside was fine and I'm sure as more time passes, they'll be able to update it. I would say this is one place where you don't want to judge by what you see rather what you taste. This is a hidden gem and We'll be going back again to try more of their entrees. So glad we opted for this place tonight. ”

“ Hands down the food is really good. Definitely in my top 5 for the Houston area. My girlfriends and I stumbled upon this restaurant and I literally stalked them to see when they will be open again (Thurs-Sun). So far I've tried three different menu items and everything tasted absolutely amazing. My son took my food after he finished his. Needless to say, I ordered food to take home. I will say DO NOT wait until you are starving to visit here. Everything is made to order; therefore , it will take a while to get you food. I think it would help if they had some type of appetizers to hold you over while you wait. The ambiance is a chill backyard gathering vibe. I did enjoy the music they had playing. It really reminded of a family cookout. To be honest they can put some cards, dominos, uno, or connect four to occupy yourself to make up for the long wait time. ”

“ Our group is visiting Houston and we saw Backyard Boil House was a few minutes away from where we are staying. We decided to give it a shot and we are glad that we did! I tried the shrimp and grits and shrimp po' boy. The prices are a bit steep, we were originally going to try the etouffee but couldn't justify spending $33 on it. However, you can taste how fresh the ingredients are and you can tell they put care into preparing the food. Everything was delicious, and I would recommend the shrimp and grits. I just have a few suggestions from a customer's perspective. When you enter the restaurant, it's a bit unclear whether you're supposed to seat yourself or order at the counter. Additionally, I would have liked to see a description of what's included in each menu item. For example, the po' boy came with tomato, onion, lettuce, and pickles. The shrimp and grits also had leeks or maybe celery (?) in the grits. I think it would be helpful to see this on the menu before ordering. Overall, our group enjoyed our experience here and would come back. ”
